Creative Oxygen Labs Invites Schools to Join the GREEN SCHOOLS PROJECT – Turning Student Art Into Air-Purifying Walls

Innovative one-day school mural initiative combines student creativity, environmental education, and clean-air nanotechnology to transform ordinary school walls into functional surfaces.
TORONTO, ON – Creative Oxygen Labs, the Canadian clean-air innovation company behind Oxygen Paint Additive, is inviting elementary and secondary schools across Canada to participate in its new GREEN SCHOOLS PROJECT, an initiative designed to bring art, science, sustainability, and indoor environmental awareness together in one exciting school day.
The concept is simple: Give students one day to paint a beautiful mural using Oxygen-infused paint, transforming an ordinary school wall into a functional surface designed to help reduce certain indoor contaminants upon contact.
Working alongside their school’s art teacher and Art Department, students will participate in a collaborative mural project celebrating nature, clean air, sustainability, and healthy living.
The initiative aims to inspire the next generation to think differently about the buildings they occupy and the role innovation can play in creating healthier indoor environments.
Art With a Purpose: More Than Just Painting a Wall
Unlike traditional school mural projects, the GREEN SCHOOLS PROJECT introduces students to the science of functional surfaces.
Oxygen Paint Additive uses a proprietary formulation of earth-derived minerals, including zinc oxide and silver-based technology, that can be mixed into conventional acrylic paint.
Creative Oxygen Labs has conducted third-party laboratory testing demonstrating antimicrobial activity on treated surfaces. The company’s broader vision is to develop painted walls that contribute to indoor environmental quality rather than simply provide decoration.
Through this initiative, students will discover how art, earth science, human biology, nanotechnology and environmental innovation can work together to address big city challenges of now and in the future.
What Participating Schools Can Expect
Each selected school will host a one-day mural painting experience, coordinated directly with its Art Department and art teacher.
Project Details:
- Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Mural Size: Up to 200 square feet of interior wall space
- Participants: Students, art teachers, and school representatives
- Theme: Clean Air, Brighter Futures
- Project Duration: One school day
Creative Oxygen Labs will provide complimentary Oxygen Paint Additive pouches for the planned mural area.
Participating schools will provide three gallons of acrylic paint, additional compatible paint or powdered pigments for creating pastel colors, and a suitable wall for the mural. Final material quantities will be confirmed based on the mural design and surface coverage requirements.
Students will work under teacher supervision, with appropriate painting materials and safety procedures.
Capturing the Experience: A Story Worth Sharing
The GREEN SCHOOLS PROJECT will also be documented through photography and video, capturing the journey from the first brushstroke to the completed mural.
With school approval and appropriate student media permissions, these stories will be shared to inspire other schools, educators, parents, and communities to participate.
Each mural will serve as a lasting reminder of the importance of clean air, environmental responsibility, and student-led creativity.

Creative Oxygen Labs is calling on school principals, art teachers, environmental clubs, parent councils, and school boards to express their interest in participating.
Schools are encouraged to nominate a suitable interior wall and work with their art teachers to develop a mural concept reflecting the values of sustainability, healthy living, and environmental responsibility.
The company also welcomes conversations with school boards, community organizations, and education partners interested in helping expand the initiative.
